The Colac Rifle Club offers members and the public the opportunity to shoot a variety of medium to long-distance disciplines. All disciplines offered are shot from the prone position at distances up to 600 yards and are in line with the National Rifle Association of Australia (NRAA) and the International Confederation of Fullbore Rifle Associations (ICFRA) rules and requirements.
Fullbore Target Rifle involves prone position single shot precision shooting using adjustable aperture sights at 'round bull' targets at distances from 300 to 600 yards.
The F Class category is based on centre fire rifles up to 8mm in calibre and with an overall weight, including any sighting system, of no more than 8kg. Telescopic sights are typically used. These competitions also allow the use of any form of support, such as sandbags, bipods, and portable stands. Basically, anything goes provided it is safe.
This discipline was introduced to cater for shooters who have off-the-shelf sporting/hunting rifles, and to offer them a venue at which to participate in the sport. It’s prime purpose is to attract new members and to encourage participation.
